Comme prévu à peu près tous les mois (sauf qu’ici un mois et demi s’est écoulé), Oracle nous propose une nouvelle version de maintenance de son virtualiseur de système d’exploitation, j’ai nommé Oracle VM Virtualbox et est donc numéroté 4.1.4
Parmi les nouveautés, des corrections de bugs de détection de l’option PAE sur les systèmes virtualisé ou encore un problème de gestion de système virtualisés 64 bits sur les processeurs AMD récents…

Vous aussi vous avez été séduit par la sortie de la Developer Preview de Windows 8 (build 8102) cette nuit et vous vous êtes précipité pour l’installer en dur sur votre PC ou sur une machine virtuelle (Virtualbox 4.1.2 a d’ailleurs un peu de mal, VMWare Workstation 7.1 n’est pas compatible mais la nouvelle version 8.0 l’est) pour vous sentir un peu perdu par la nouvelle interface tactile Metro grandement inadaptée à tout ce qui est non tactile ? Gêné d’avoir eu du mal à trouver comment démarrer un autre logiciel que l’App Weather (pour lister tous les logiciels installés il faut aller sur le logo Windows puis Search) ?
Sachez qu’il reste un moyen de faire réapparaître le menu démarrer de notre bon vieux Windows 7 simplement en suivant les étapes qui suivent :
- Ouvrez Regedit
- Allez sur la clé HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
- Changez la clé RPEnabled de l’état » 1 » à » 0 « .
- Fermez Regedit
- Constatez en cliquant sur le logo Windows.
Seul inconvénient, cela désactive totalement l’interface « Metro » mais cela reste une solution temporaire en attendant une nouvelle build un peu plus évoluée qui nous dira si l’ancien menu démarrer aura encore sa place sur Windows 8.
Ainsi, Pour retrouver l’interface « Metro », il vous faudra faire le contraire et changer de l’état de la clé de » 0 » à » 1 « .

Comme prévu chaque mois, une nouvelle version de maintenance vient de sortir pour le virtualisateur d’Oracle. Cette version (4.1.2) de Virtualbox corrige plusieurs problèmes rencontrés sur la précédente version et corrige ainsi les problèmes de jeunesse de cette nouvelle branche.

On aura finalement pas eu à attendre longtemps avant qu’une nouvelle version majeure de Virtualbox arrive, car à peine 3 jours après la 4.0.12, Oracle publie Virtualbox 4.1.0 avec des nouveautés bien sympathique comme :
- La possibilité de cloner ses disques virtuels (avec un nouvel assistant)
- Un autre nouvel assistant bien plus évolué pour créer ses disques
- La possibilité de retirer un disque virtuel SATA à chaud (expérimental)
- La limite de mémoire élevée jusqu’à 1To pour les machines hôtes 64 bits
- La possibilité d’activer Aero et Direct3D dans les machines virtuelles ayant Windows Vista ou supérieur grâce à un pilote WDDM expérimental
- La correction d’un crash sur les plateformes hôtes Linux ayant un kernel antérieur au 2.6.29

Au programme, diverses corrections de bugs au niveau de la gestion des disques durs, de MacOS X Lion (10.7) et du support de Gnome 3.0. Les utilisateurs du logiciel étant sous un Kernel Linux en 3.0 se voit corrigés d’un bugs frappant la détection des instructions matérielles Intel VT-x.
