OpenOffice devient LibreOffice à cause d’Oracle

Suite du feuilleton du rachat de Sun Microsystem par Oracle et de ses répercussions. Après l'abandon d'OpenSolaris, avec les incertitudes sur Java, voilà maintenant que le projet OpenOffice en prend de plein fouet. En effet, les contributeurs ont décidé de se désolidariser d'Oracle après l'annonce de la création d'une suite bureautique propriétaire baptisée CloudOffice.

Et pour se faire, le projet change de nom et devient The Document Foundation (au lieu de OpenOffice.org) et la suite bureautique devient provisoirement LibreOffice.

Pourquoi provisoirement ? Car les contributeurs du projet espèrent et demandent qu'Oracle leur cède les marques OpenOffice et OpenOffice.org. Cependant, TDF n'écarte pas totalement Oracle, car elle peut tout de même rester membre du groupe, mais de ce fait, n'avoir qu'une influence très limitée sur la suite bureautique.

En attendant, The Document Foundation propose à tout le monde le téléchargement de LibreOffice en version 3.3.0 bêta et uniquement en anglais pour Windows, MacOS X et Linux, en attendant mieux...

Sun xVM Virtualbox 3.1.6

Un mois et demi après la publication de la précédente version, voici que les développeurs du logiciel de virtualisation de Sun nous offrent la version 3.1.6 corrigeant (comme d'habitude) une petite liste bien fournie de bugs embêtant et rencontrés sur les moutures précédentes.

2ème mise à jour de correction pour le logiciel de virtualisation gratuit de Sun qui passe donc en version 3.1.4. Son but : concurrencer VMware Player 3.0 ou Server 2.0.

Cette mise à jour corrige donc une flopée de bugs rencontrés sur les précédentes version du logiciel dont un concernant la stabilité du multicoeur, du guru méditation, de la compatibilité avec les Kernels Linux 2.6.32 et de quelques crashs avec certaines applications Windows 16bits.

Sun xVM Virtualbox 3.1.2

1ère mise à jour mineure pour la branche 3.1 du virtualisateur de système d'exploitation de Sun. Au programme, comme chaque mise à jour mineure, des corrections de bugs en tout genre.

Cependant, dans cette version, quelques gros problèmes ont été corrigés, comme l'instabilité du multi-coeur virtuel, le support de l'USB virtuel sous les systèmes Windows 64bits, quelques améliorations pour l'accélération 2D ont été rajouté tout comme une amélioration de la 3D sous MacOS X.

Sun xVM Virtualbox 3.1.0

Nouvelle version majeure du virtualisateur de système d'exploitation de Sun qui marque une nouvelle étape dans son développement, la version 3.1.

Quelques jours après avoir sorti une dernière version de maintenance de la branche 3.0, Sun nous propose de vraies nouveautés et beaucoup d'améliorations. On pourra d'ailleurs noter l'arrivée du "Live Migration" pour pouvoir exporter une machine virtuelle d'un PC à un autre, les clichés d'états ou instantanés (ou encore "Snapshots") peuvent être sélectionnés indépendamment les uns des autres, en créer à partir d'un premier pour en faire des étapes à la façon d'une arborescence. Le support de l'accélération 2D dans les systèmes invités Windows, d'un support plus flexible des attachements de lecteurs virtuels et des réseaux (un lecteur CD peut être attaché à un contrôleur IDE arbitraire et les cartes réseaux peuvent être changés alors que la machine est en cours de fonctionnement.
Le support USB a été réécrit pour les hôtes Solaris, un support expérimental de l'EFI et des cartes réseaux paravirtualisés. Pour terminer, les supports de la virtualisation matérielle Intel VT-x et AMD-V auront droit à une amélioration des performances.
