Nouvelle version de maintenance pour le logiciel de virtualisation de systèmes d'exploitation d'Oracle qui en arrive donc à sa version 4.1.10. On pourra noter quelques ajouts afin de fonctionner (et de faire fonctionner) sur la Consumer Preview de Windows 8 sans oublier les habituelles corrections de bugs.

Nouvelle version de maintenance pour le virtualisateur de systèmes d'exploitation d'Oracle. Une 4ème mouture permettant de corriger des quelques problèmes rencontrés dans les précédentes versions.

Nouvelle version de maintenance pour le virtualisateur de systèmes d'exploitation d'Oracle. En effet, Virtualbix nous arrive fraîchement dans une version 4.1.6 destiné à corriger quelques bugs... et pour une fois, il n'y a pas grand-chose à corriger.

Comme prévu à peu près tous les mois (sauf qu'ici un mois et demi s'est écoulé), Oracle nous propose une nouvelle version de maintenance de son virtualiseur de système d'exploitation, j'ai nommé Oracle VM Virtualbox et est donc numéroté 4.1.4

Parmi les nouveautés, des corrections de bugs de détection de l'option PAE sur les systèmes virtualisé ou encore un problème de gestion de système virtualisés 64 bits sur les processeurs AMD récents...

[MAJ][Astuce] Windows 8 Preview : Retrouver l’ancien Menu Démarrer

MAJ 02/03/2012 : Attention, l'astuce ci-dessous ne fonctionne plus pour la nouvelle Consumer Preview de Windows 8, à la place Superbus478 nous donne le lien d'un logiciel qui permet d'ajouter un menu démarrer façon Windows 7 (le logiciel ne désactive pas Metro ni la barre des charmes).

Vous aussi vous avez été séduit par la sortie de la Developer Preview de Windows 8 (build 8102) cette nuit et vous vous êtes précipité pour l'installer en dur sur votre PC ou sur une machine virtuelle (Virtualbox 4.1.2 a d'ailleurs un peu de mal, VMWare Workstation 7.1 n'est pas compatible mais la nouvelle version 8.0 l'est) pour vous sentir un peu perdu par la nouvelle interface tactile Metro grandement inadaptée à tout ce qui est non tactile ? Gêné d'avoir eu du mal à trouver comment démarrer un autre logiciel que l'App Weather (pour lister tous les logiciels installés il faut aller sur le logo Windows puis Search) ?

Sachez qu'il reste un moyen de faire réapparaître le menu démarrer de notre bon vieux Windows 7 simplement en suivant les étapes qui suivent :

  1. Ouvrez Regedit
  2. Allez sur la clé HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
  3. Changez la clé RPEnabled de l'état " 1 " à " 0 ".
  4. Fermez Regedit
  5. Constatez en cliquant sur le logo Windows.

Seul inconvénient, cela désactive totalement l'interface "Metro" mais cela reste une solution temporaire en attendant une nouvelle build un peu plus évoluée qui nous dira si l'ancien menu démarrer aura encore sa place sur Windows 8.
Ainsi, Pour retrouver l'interface "Metro", il vous faudra faire le contraire et changer de l'état de la clé de " 0 " à " 1 ".

On n'aura finalement pas eu à attendre longtemps avant qu'une nouvelle version majeure de Virtualbox arrive, car à peine 3 jours après la 4.0.12, Oracle publie Virtualbox 4.1.0 avec des nouveautés bien sympathique comme :

  • La possibilité de cloner ses disques virtuels (avec un nouvel assistant)
  • Un autre nouvel assistant bien plus évolué pour créer ses disques
  • La possibilité de retirer un disque virtuel SATA à chaud (expérimental)
  • La limite de mémoire élevée jusqu'à 1To pour les machines hôtes 64 bits
  • La possibilité d'activer Aero et Direct3D dans les machines virtuelles ayant Windows Vista ou supérieur grâce à un pilote WDDM expérimental
  • La correction d'un crash sur les plateformes hôtes Linux ayant un kernel antérieur au 2.6.29

Ce n'est pas tout, la version 4.1.0 contient bien d'autres corrections, voici la liste :

Nouvelle version de maintenance pour le virtualiseur de système d'exploitation d'Oracle. En effet, en attendant la version 4.1, la version actuelle se dote de quelques corrections principalement pour être prête à être exécutée sous MacOS X Lion (10.7).

Il y a quand même quelques corrections pour les autres systèmes...

5ème mise à jour de maintenance pour le virtualisateur de systèmes d'exploitation d'Oracle. Au programme, diverses corrections de bugs au niveau de la gestion des disques durs, de MacOS X Lion (10.7) et du support de Gnome 3.0. Les utilisateurs du logiciel étant sous un Kernel Linux en 3.0 se voit corrigés d'un bugs frappant la détection des instructions matérielles Intel VT-x.

Pour le reste voici le changelog :

* Windows Additions: fixed bug when determining the extended version of the Guest Additions (4.0.8 regression; bug #8948)
* Solaris Additions: fixed installation to 64-bit Solaris 10u9 guests (4.0.8 regression)
* Linux Additions: RHEL6.1/OL6.1 compile fix
* Linux Additions: fixed a memory leak during VBoxManage guestcontrol execute (bug #9068)

4ème mise à jour mineure pour le virtualisateur de systèmes d'exploitation d'Oracle alias Virtualbox. Dans cette mouture, c'est un nombre limité de corrections qui ont été intégré, en effet, les principales fonctions corrigées sont la gestion multicoeurs et 64 bits sous MacOS X, la correction du rendu de GNOME 3 sous Ubuntu Natty et Fedora 15 sans oublier les quelques bugs sur les additions invitées...

Voici le changelog en détails :

  • USB: removed assumption that string descriptors are null-terminated (Windows hosts only)
  • 3D support: fixed a potential crash when resizing the guest window
  • 3D support: fixed GNOME 3 rendering under Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15
  • Snapshots: fixed another bug which could lose entries in the media registry when restoring a snapshot (bug #8363)
  • Shared Folders: don't stop mounting the other valid folders if one host folder is inaccessible (4.0.6 regression)
  • Linux Additions: check whether gcc and make are installed before building kernel modules (bug #8795)
  • Solaris Additions: added support for X.Org Server 1.10
  • Guest Additions: fixed inappropriate Guest Additions update notification when using vendor-specific version suffixes (bug #8844)
