Oracle : OpenOffice.org sera finalement opensource

Après un long bras de fer avec les principaux développeurs ainsi que les anciens qui sont parti pour développer (via leur organisation à but non lucratif The Document Foundation) LibreOffice le "fork" de la suite bureautique d'Oracle, ce dernier a décidé purement et simplement le passage de la suite bureautique en opensource sous contrôle communautaire.

Qu'est-ce que cela veut-dire ? Simplement l'abandon de la part de l'éditeur de sortir des versions commerciales d'OpenOffice.org ainsi que son pendant "online" Oracle Cloud Office.

A l'heure actuelle, OpenOffice.org et Libre ont sorti tous deux une bêta de leur version 3.4.0, néanmoins, on ne sait pas ce qu'il adviendra d'OpenOffice et de LibreOffice... une fusion, une concurrence ou la mort d'une des deux suites ?

LibreOffice 3.3.0 final

Ce sera donc le premier à être sorti en version finale. LibreOffice, le fork du célèbre et tant fermé OpenOffice d'Oracle, vient donc de sortir en version 3.3.0. Quelques nouveautés sont de la partie dans cette nouvelle mouture comme l'importation de fichiers SVG dans Writer, le filtre d'importation de fichier Microsoft Works, Lotus Word Pro et WordPerfect sans oublier la disponibilité d'un million de cellules dans Calc. Ce ne sont pas les seules nouveautés, vous pouvez d'ailleurs consulter la liste complète par ici.

Les développeurs conseillent à ceux qui veulent migrer d'OpenOffice à LibreOffice (afin de les soutenir) de désinstaller au préalable la suite d'Oracle vu que les deux suites partagent les mêmes bases, les installer côte-à-côte les rendraient bancales...

Oracle VM VirtualBox 4.0.2

Un peu moins d'un mois après la sortie de la version 4.0, le virtualisateur de systèmes d'exploitation VirtualBox d'Oracle se voit gratifié d'une petite mise à jour afin de corriger les petites erreurs de jeunesse dû à l'apparition des nouvelles fonctions. Et bien il n'en est rien d'après ce que l'on peut voir sur le changelog de cette version 4.0.2. En effet, c'est n'est que de simple bugs de longue date qui ont été corrigés sauf deux-trois concernant l'interface graphique et l'export OVF.

Oracle VM Virtualbox 4.0

Et voilà une toute nouvelle version pour le virtualisateur de systèmes d'exploitation d'Oracle alias Virtualbox qui arrive dans une version majeure... la 4.0.

Au sommaire des nouveautés de cette version on pourra noter la réorganisation complète du logiciel. Tout d'abord, le logiciel principal s'appelle Virtualbox Manager et n'offre plus par défaut le support des ports USB 2.0, pour cela il faut télécharger (gratuitement) l'Extension Pack qui ajoute donc le support des ports USB 2.0, du RDP et du boot PXE pour les cartes Intel.

Changement également au niveau l'interface du logiciel qui affiche désormais une miniature du système d'exploitation en cours de fonctionnement, la possibilité de créer un raccourci .vbox pour pouvoir démarrer directement une machine virtuelle en double-cliquant sur son icône, la liste des systèmes d'exploitation peut être triée et la suppression de celles-ci ne laisse plus aucune trace sur le disque dur (suppression des disques et images)

Virtualbox peut maintenant gérer 1,5 à 2 Go de RAM sur les machines 32bits, inclus de nouvelles référence de matériel virtuels, améliore l'exportation vers les fichiers OVF et permet de contrôler l'utilisation des ressources utilisées par la machine virtuelle (processeurs, lecture/écriture disque dur) sans oublier naturellement toutes les corrections de bugs qui sont naturellement listés dans le changelog complet ci-dessous :

Oracle VM Virtualbox 3.2.12

Après presque deux mois d'intense recherche, voici qu'une nouvelle version du virtualisateur de systèmes d'exploitation d'Oracle fait son arrivée. Avec cette version 3.2.12 qui se focalise sur l’amélioration de performances notamment afin de prévenir les risques de ralentissements pour les processeurs possédants les instructions de virtualisation matérielles en mettant en oeuvre la gestion d'une nouvelle instruction évitant ce désagrément.

Sur Linux, c'est la compilation en dure qui se fera pour le driver graphique vboxvideo si DKMS n'est pas installé. Le reste des changements est disponible ci-dessous :

OpenOffice 3.3 passe en RC1, et LibreOffice ?

S'il y avait un rapprochement assez lointain que l'on pourrait faire entre ces deux logiciels, ce serait avec les deux élections de Miss France. En effet, OpenOffice est à Endemol ce que LibreOffice serait à Fontenay (super la comparaison vous allez me dire) car l'un est toujours plus en avance que l'autre.

C'est ainsi qu'OpenOffice (la version maintenue par Oracle) vient de passer en version 3.3 RC1 passant devant le statut de Bêta 2 de l'actuelle LibreOffice 3.3. Quelles différences ? l'un a moins de bugs que l'autre, sinon le reste est identique... à part les codes stylistiques des logiciels.

Seule chose que l'on pourrait féliciter, c'est la disponibilité de toutes les langues en même temps que la version anglaise, alors qu'auparavant il fallait attendre 1 à 2 semaines.

L'offre logicielle de LibreOffice est beaucoup plus restreinte car seule la version Windows est disponible en version internationale, les autres systèmes d'exploitation se contenteront de la langue de Shakespeare.

Oracle VM Virtualbox 3.2.10

2 mois après son prédécesseur, voici qu'Oracle nous offre gracieusement une nouvelle version du virtualisateur de système d'exploitation Virtualbox dans sa version 3.2.10 (pas encore de branche 3.3 à venir pour le moment).

Cette nouvelle version arrive avec une flopée de corrections de bugs dont celui du mode V8086 pour les DOS/Win9x qui a été introduit sur la version 3.2.8. Les performances pour les machines virtuelles de plus de 2Go de RAM ont été améliorées, le support du kernel 2.6.36 a été ajouté, la gestion de la 3D a été corrigé lorsqu'on passait au mode Seamless et les performances des applications OpenGL 32bits a été corrigé sous les systèmes Windows 64bits invités.

OpenOffice devient LibreOffice à cause d’Oracle

Suite du feuilleton du rachat de Sun Microsystem par Oracle et de ses répercussions. Après l'abandon d'OpenSolaris, avec les incertitudes sur Java, voilà maintenant que le projet OpenOffice en prend de plein fouet. En effet, les contributeurs ont décidé de se désolidariser d'Oracle après l'annonce de la création d'une suite bureautique propriétaire baptisée CloudOffice.

Et pour se faire, le projet change de nom et devient The Document Foundation (au lieu de OpenOffice.org) et la suite bureautique devient provisoirement LibreOffice.

Pourquoi provisoirement ? Car les contributeurs du projet espèrent et demandent qu'Oracle leur cède les marques OpenOffice et OpenOffice.org. Cependant, TDF n'écarte pas totalement Oracle, car elle peut tout de même rester membre du groupe, mais de ce fait, n'avoir qu'une influence très limitée sur la suite bureautique.

En attendant, The Document Foundation propose à tout le monde le téléchargement de LibreOffice en version 3.3.0 bêta et uniquement en anglais pour Windows, MacOS X et Linux, en attendant mieux...
